Storyline
Son Goku was a monkey-tailed boy who lived all alone on Mount Paozu. One day, after he had caught a Giant Fish to eat, a girl in a car (Bulma) almost hit him. He mistook the car for a monster and threw it onto its side, but was shot by Bulma in return. He thought she was some kind of Demon, but she ended up convincing him that she was Human, even though she did not have a tail. He invited her into his house since his dead grandpa had told him to be nice to girls, but once there she went straight for his only keepsake. Goku had shown Bulma an orange glowing ball that he thought was his grandfather. All of a sudden, Bulma got excited and asked if she could have the ball. When Goku protested, she brought out two more "grandpas" and explained to him the legend of the Dragon Balls and the Eternal Dragon. She offers to let him feel her up to get him to come along, but when that doesn't work, she tells him it'll help him get stronger. He agrees, and off they gol.

Storyline: 
Another retelling of the Dragon Ball story. This time, young Goku and young Krillin are training for the Tenkaichi Tournament to be held in the country of Mifan. The Emperor of Mifan, Chaozu, is trying to find his lost Ran Ran. "Minister" Master Shen has Pilaf work on a Dragon Radar, takes it from him, and is using it to locate the Dragon Balls. Minister Master Shen and Taopaipai claim that they'll use the wish from Shenlong to locate Ran Ran, but are actually planning, with Tenshinhan's help, to kill Chaozu and take over the country. Blue announces that Ran Ran is being held in Master Shen's room, and is killed by Taopaipai for it. Bora and Upa have located the final Dragon Ball and they take it to Mifan to use it to demand that Mifan's soldiers be forced to leave the land near Karin Tower.

Bora is tricked into entering the Budōkai (the winner of the Budōkai will be granted one wish by Chaozu), and is then killed by Taopaipai. Bulma, Oolong, Lunch and Pu'er are looking for the other six Dragon Balls, so Bulma can wish for a boyfriend. However, when the DBs are located, they are accidentally dropped to the bottom of the moat surrounding Chaozu castle. Tenshinhan realizes that he likes Chaozu too much, and doesn't kill his friend; instead, he blows away Master Shen. The story of Blue and Gokū entering Penguin village is included, but this time it is Taopaipai and Gokū that meet Arale-chan, and Gokū kills Taopaipai with Arale's help.

Goku throws the final ball into the moat and asks Shen Long to resurrect Bora.

While the movie is clearly not canon (as it is a retelling of events from the anime/manga), FUNimation treated it as canon when they dubbed the Z series. This is evident in that they refer to Chaozu as an emperor and Tao as a general.

Storyline:
Twelve year old Son Goku seeks out Turtle Hermit to ask to be accepted as a student just before Krillin, a monk from a far off village, arrives for the same reason (and used a dirty magazine as a bribe). Turtle Hermit sent them on a quest far to the west, where "five mountains stand, called the 'Devil's Hand'." In a castle there, there lies the legendary, and beautiful, "Sleeping Princess." Whoever brought back the Sleeping Princess would become the old pervert's student. The two boys set out, and Krillin used all the standard tricks to trip Goku up.

A little later, Bulma Brief, Oolong, Yamucha, and Pu-erh – who were on summer vacation – arrived at the Kame House to find Goku. Turtle Hermit told them that the two boys had gone far to the east for training, therefore the friends flew in Bulma's Capsule Jet to the Devil's Hand. When they neared the castle, the jet was attacked by Demons and Bulma was taken to the castle. The owner of the castle, Lucifer, pretended to treat her as a guest until it was time to awaken the Sleeping Princess. In the meantime, Goku and Krillin fight monsters, and they drop in on Bulma just before the Butler can drain Bulma of her blood through a giant syringe (Bulma's blood is to be used to toast the awakening of the Sleeping Princess). Lunch (in her bad, blonde personality) then arrives to steal the Sleeping Princess – which is really a giant jewel. Everyone is captured and encased in a wall of rock.

It is the night of a full moon, and the moonlight is used to power the jewel. The moonlight also turns Goku into a Great Ape, and everyone escapes. They fight Lucifer and Goku uses a Kamehameha to destroy Lucifer's Sleeping Princess-powered laser cannon (the full moonlight is to be used to destroy the Sun, and begin the Reign of Darkness), and kills Lucifer. The heroes escape, and Krillin acts contrite, but doesn't actually apologize to Goku for his behavior. The two boys return to Kame House with Launch, and Master Roshi takes them both on as students

Storyline
This film is a re-telling of the gathering of the Dragon Balls during the Emperor Pilaf Saga, but with King Gurumes taking Pilaf's role as the central villain. Like that initial saga, it depicts how Son Goku met up with Bulma Brief, Yamucha, Oolong, Puar, and Crane Hermit, as well as the first quest for the Dragon Balls. (These events would be retold again in Dragon Ball: The Path to Power.). This film is used as the basis for the live action Chinese film Dragon Ball: The Magic Begins.
