Storyline:: This film is a re-telling of the gathering of the Dragon Balls during the Emperor Pilaf Saga, but with King Gurumes taking Pilaf's role as the central villain. Like that initial saga, it depicts how Son Goku met up with Bulma Brief, Yamucha, Oolong, Puar, and Crane Hermit, as well as the first quest for the Dragon Balls. (These events would be retold again in Dragon Ball: The Path to Power.)
